How does GetQuorum's Zoom Webinar differ from a regular Zoom Meeting?

Understand the different permissions and features available to Owners and Panelists during a Meeting.

Overview By default, Meetings run on the Zoom Webinar platform rather than Zoom Meetings. This ensures a controlled environment with specific permissions for Owners (attendees) and Panelists to manage the Meeting flow effectively.

Owner Experience

Owners join the Meeting through the Integrated Portal. To ensure an orderly Meeting, Owners have specific restrictions:

  • Visibility: Owners cannot see other Owners in the Meeting.

  • Audio: Owners cannot unmute themselves. If a verbal question is required, the moderator must manually unmute the Owner.

  • Video: Owners cannot enable their cameras.

    • Exception: During candidate speeches, a moderator may temporarily promote an Owner to a Panelist to allow camera access. Once finished, the user is demoted back to an attendee.

  • Chat: Owners do not have access to the Chat feature.

  • Q&A Box: Owners must use the Q&A box to communicate regarding technical or voting issues.

    • Moderators monitor this box to resolve technical difficulties.

    • Moderators do not address corporation-related questions; these must be handled by the designated board member.

Panelist Experience

Panelists join the Meeting through the Zoom client software and have expanded permissions:

  • Audio & Video: Panelists can mute/unmute their microphones and enable/disable their cameras freely.

  • Chat: Panelists have access to the Chat feature to communicate privately with the moderator or other Panelists.

Common Questions

Is the Meeting recorded? Yes. Meetings are recorded by default for quality assurance. Recording is only disabled if specific instructions are received prior to or during the Meeting to turn it off.
